Cotton & Peanuts!

I rode the Guyton West Populaire yesterday and enjoyed the unique rural Georgia farm scenery. I had never been showered by peanuts falling from a passing truck and I had never seen cotton being harvested before yesterday.

There was a cotton gin along the way and a peanut processing plant, but the roads were fairly quiet and the trucks gave space.

The ride had controls at 22, 34 and 46 miles, so plenty of stops to refuel. I also stop to take pictures and check things out more when riding alone and it was a great day and route for that!

Two surprises along the way:

It was odd to find a cemetery with your name on it! The nearby bridge offered a clue:

Revolutionary war hero evidently. I’ll have to do some research!

I highly recommend this ride! It was near Savannah and I-95 and made a good half day break in the drive to Florida.

This was RUSA state #20 for me, trying to get to 25 this year!😎
